I just love email marketing because there I can play full out. And what I often do is I break up my story over several emails. And what I always do to make sure that people cannot wait to get the next email. So I always have a so-called information book at the end. Lost or, Stranger Things or Orange is The New Black, all those Netflix series that are out there. What are we doing at the end? They always open up the new part of the story, which is called an information loop. That's what I'm doing at the end of my emails. And sometimes I'm getting emails back from my subscribers "I cannot wait to get the new e-mail, when is it coming!" That's because of the information loop. Like, I don’t tell people that I’m just a storyteller that uses sales psychology. I’m saying the outcome. I’m reaching people’s heart, brain, and purse. There’s a little story, even in my tech life, you can use it everywhere. Just think about the outcome you want for your customer and bring it. People are not interested, how you do it. They just want it to be done.
One of the examples I just have given was with this little pet, that's one. I made a video with this, used the curiosity trigger, told the story of how I came up with this idea and then pulled them in and showed them a video first. And then, after that, I retargeted people that watched a percentage of that video, because I knew they were interested in my topic. They got to know me, because like in online marketing, some say you need 8 contacts, some say you need 12, whatsoever, before people buy. So I warmed them up with videos, and one of the videos was with this little guy. I paid one cent per ten second video views. Just imagine how many people you can reach if you have those costs and this is because I played the trigger at the beginning.
Of course, there is an “about you” section or “about me”, where you tell your story, but you need to be very, very early with the storytelling. I already do storytelling on the first site. I say very clearly who’s it for and what I’m doing, and then use the aspects of storytelling. And then, of It is a great way to address objections, because you will find objections all over the place when it comes down to selling. A great way to address objections is share a story with one of your clients. And the story needs to be true. That’s very, very important. Don’t share made up stories. People feel it. People have a sense for it, that you are not honest. But for example, I’m sharing a story of a young mother with two young children and with my techniques, with the story marketing academy, she was able to build a successful online business, even with two small kids. And she’s telling that story herself. So, go to your happy customers, ask them if they share their story, and that you can use it. And that’s what I’m doing very often. Because then they don’t have to believe me. Then they can believe someone else. Who shares her or his story. I'm showing stories of my clients. They tell their story. Let them talk. How great you are. What they have achieved and how their life will look like after they work with you. Don't let them just say, “Oh, she's great. I felt so hurt. Wonderful.” No, that's not what you want them to say. If you have stories from your clients, please ask them. How does your life look like now after you've worked with me? That's what people are interested in. And then, of course, little bits and bites of you all over the place. And look at how do you want to present yourself? Like I am a teacher and also an entertainer. I'm always a little funny, but not too much because I'm not a comedian, but that's my story. I just don't like to be very strict all the time. So that's part of my story and I'm sharing that but maybe you're not an entertainer, maybe you’re an integrator. This means that you just bring people together and share that. What's so special about you? And this needs to be shown in the first two or three seconds, because I heard that goldfish should have an attention span of eight seconds. People in the online decade, we are under eight seconds, and I think you don't want to sell your products to gold fishes? So, you need to be fast.
