Why You Need an Entrepreneurial Mindset
Transcript
We were 4 female co-founders & we’ve been working on our business idea [for] since 9 months already. And slowly after 9 months, one by one, one co-founder after another co-founder started to leave our startup project, just at the moment, it started getting really serious. We had wonderful mentors, amazing investors on [the] hook, we conducted enormous market research, interviewed a lot of potential clients. What is required from us at this stage is to make this one single step into insecurity.
Suddenly, I was sitting alone in my room, puzzled & feeling like a failure when my last co-founder shut the door. We are a strong girl power team, with brilliant minds, experience & skills that would promise us anything else but success. But there was 1 important thing we were missing, And guess what? It’s the RIGHT MINDSET Or as many people call it [an] entrepreneurial mindset.
[The] entrepreneurial mindset is this specific set of inner qualities that will help you go through Strom & fire, trusting & believing in yourself that you can make it happen. Entrepreneurs face having to deal almost every day with a lot of challenging situations. Entrepreneurship is not just this one single line that is going to lead you straight to the top. Entrepreneurship is a combination of many rewarding & exciting moments combined with the moments of loneliness, frustration & feeling like a fraud. So you’ve got to stay strong & challenge your comfort zone.
And of course, no one is born with that entrepreneurial mindset. And it is true for both men & women. But the] good news is: you can learn it as you open yourself up to the new opportunities when you start trusting yourself & following your gut feeling. When you are willing to reflect & grow, stay positive and at the same time stay real.
And what especially this team of 4 female co-founders was missing, whose part I was at that time is the sense of purpose and a bigger why, why as well make [an] entrepreneurial mindset. We were willing to change the outside circumstance which we didn’t feel comfortable about, but we were not willing to change ourselves front the inside. That means staying flexible and willing to change, which makes another aspect of [an] entrepreneurial mindset.
In the introduction part of this course, we will bring up 10 traits of people with [an] entrepreneurial mindset. And we dedicated separate lessons to the topics which are specifically relevant for women in order to acquire [an] entrepreneurial mindset. These lessons are focusing on
Overcoming your fear of failure. As you know there are more women than men who are afraid to start their own business because of that fear of failure. And of course, the root cause of it is very deep in our psyche. And could even be connected with our early childhood experiences.
Another lesson is describing the state of mind when people believe in their ability to grow and develop their talents. And this is called a growth mindset. There has been research by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, which suggests that people with a growth mindset are more successful.
And the last aspect of the course brings up the topic of collaboration, in terms of creating meaningful relationships with other like-minded people, so you can always tap into your network & find the help you need to help your business to develop & grow.
