The Formula for a Winning Sales Pitch

As we have learned so far in this course, a sales pitch is a script that summarizes what your product or service is all about and what clients can expect from this product or service. It should be short, concise, and have a clear message.

So what exactly should you include in a sales pitch?
Below, we have adopted the Sales Pitch Framework that provides a great formula for creating a successful sales pitch:
Begin with the Problem: Start with a statement or question about the problem you are solving and other statistics about this. This answers the why?
Have a Value Statement: Communicate clearly and concisely your value statement. Be action-oriented and outcome-focused. Make sure you communicate the benefits too.
Explain How You Do It: Highlight your unique differentiators and explain what you do.
Identify Your Proof Points: Provide clear reference examples and list your recognizable achievements—for example, industry validation and awards.
Provide Customer Stories and Testimonials: Share some customer examples and successes. It’s good also to provide some emotional and personalized customer stories that make your pitch real and tangible.
End with an Engaging Question: Close the pitch with an open-ended question that opens up a space for conversation and intrigue toward your sales pitch.

Below are some examples of successful sales pitches:
A famous example – G2 delivers a great sales pitch, which is brief, concise, and straight to the point yet powerful. All in 20 seconds.
“G2 is the user voice platform for people to be able to say what they think about software, and not be told by the analysts or people who don’t use it, or the reference from your best customers. They hear it directly from the user and engage with people who use the product.”
Scrub Daddy Founder Aaron Krause communicated an impressive sales pitch for a scrubbing tool that changes texture based on water temperature to the American TV Show – Shark Tank investors several years back. It was successfully received as he got straight to the point but also demonstrated his product well with a bit of humor and engaging lines that you can relate to.
