Email list, is basically a database of emails from people that you collected that are interested in your business, or somehow interacted with your business. So, it’s up to you to use that as your disposal, how you wish, if you want to use it to just send newsletters, to inform them about different things that are going on in your company, or if you’d like to sell a product, it’s basically up to you. It’s very important because these are people who are interested or have shown some sort of interest in what you’re doing. So your website using your website ability, email is great because your website acts as a filter, so you show your image to your customer when they first sign up and they can make a basic first impression about you. “Do I want to work with this person or not? Do I have one to find out more information or not?” Once they’ve gone through your website and made it to your email list that has shown already that, hey, they’re interested in something about you. So it’s basically a filter. So it filters, people who you might not want to work with because you show your personality on your website, right? So if they see your website and like, I don’t like this guy, then I’m not going to go through the next step. But if they look at your website and they keep going forward, you know, you’ve already made it past the first hurdle, so to speak. You need to make sure that people can sign up for your newsletter right under your blog. So no matter what you’re doing, no matter what you’re promoting, that they have easy access to sign up for it. So you write a great piece of value, create a piece of information in your Blog, always make sure that people get sign up right away. They can just enter their email address and you put, stay up to date on other news on what I’m doing or get information before I put it out on my blog, for example, sign up for my newsletter here, for example. So, it’s more about the call to action and how you place the newsletter signups.
You need to find your audience and you need to build trust with your audience, first of all. Reddit for example, is a great platform because it’s thousands of topics and thousands of subreads about everything, about hiking to having fingernail growing competitions. And if you can engage with this audience, that’s one of the best ways to interact with the community and say, “Hey, I have a website”, but in a non salesy, non pushy way. So for example, you wouldn’t say sign up for my email list. You would have your email list on your profile for example, and they can then join from there. Another way of doing that, for example, is putting yourself out there on YouTube. The biggest thing is with YouTube is to try to give yourself, give out as much value as you can in a video. And that’s how you build trust with your audience. And then you can like put, for example, on the links below your website and say, hey, join my email list for example, but then you see your audience knows you. So I would say the key thing in general is finding out way, regardless if it’s Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, whatever, build trust with your audience.
You really need to choose a CRM software because they all have different features, they all have different things that they do. For example, if you want simplicity, you want to drag and drop pictures into your newsletter. You want to be able to make the newsletter within five minutes, for example, there’s, CRM softwares for that, like MailChimp, for example, that automate the process. So it’s an extremely valuable part. Some of the websites CMSs for example, Wix, they have that built-in already, they have a CRM software as well, where you keep your database and where you can set up an email system or an automated system to reach out to your audience. I think that if you have any email CRM software where you need an instruction manual, throw it out because it’s sending a newsletter, it’s a bit complicated. First of all, it needs to be GDPR what do you call, it needs to be authorized, for use here, but also needs to be simple. You don’t need an instruction manual for it should be really drop. And so I personally prefer MailChimp because it’s free. I believe to a certain amount of subscribers and it’s super easy to use. I mean, my grandma can use it. And anybody else who has really lack of computer exposure just needs to like use it a couple of times and it’s a piece of cake. So I would say stick with something simple. If you sign up for something and it looks like it’s a pain in the butt to use cut it right away, because it should not take more than 10 minutes to formulate a newsletter.
I said, simplicity, of course, but to get into further, further detail about that, I would say you need an automated system. So for example I always recommend people do a welcome newsletter, like a personal newsletter from them themselves. Either, it doesn’t have to be you showing a video of yourself, but just like, “Hey, welcome to blah, blah, blah. My name is so and so” like a personalized newsletter, not only does a welcome newsletter or this automation process, helps your new subscriber feel special, but also it filters out robots or these bots that even, you know, you have robots that can still do the double opt in these days with newsletters. So filters that out. You can see hmm this person didn’t answer, or they picked it up in a certain way, that was weird. Then you can automatically delete them out of your list. That’s one of the most important features to have something and makes it easy to automate. So when certain people take actions, it’ll do this. For example, if someone doesn’t answer your email after three or four newsletters, you sent them, then it’ll automatically scrape them off your list for example. Automation I would say, simplicity and automation.
