Instagram for Personal Brand
Transcript
For me it depends on your business and your brand and actually your specific objectives. Right? So for some businesses and for some brands Instagram actually isn’t the right platform, but for others it is. It really depends on where your audience is hanging out. You know, if the people that you are trying to reach are on Instagram that they are the core users of Instagram, then absolutely it’s the right platform for you. The core thing is clarity. So being really clear about who you are and what you deliver. So that is about having a clear bio, you know, description, a name and kind of your reason for being, why you were there and what you serve.
I think clarity in the bio section is very, very important. Also I think having a point of difference is important. Something to be aware of is why would someone like your Instagram page, why would they follow you? Why would they be interested in your content specifically? And think about how you can use that to be kind of different or special in some way from other Instagrammers. I think also another really important thing is having relevant and valuable content. So kind of thinking again about your audience and is what you’re saying actually relevant to them. Do, will they care? Another thing that makes a great Instagram profile is encouraging community building or discussion around certain topics. So knowing what your topic is and what your specialty is and really provoking discussion and engagement and building community out of that place, out of that space on Instagram. Those are some of the most important things I think that make up the really special Instagram profiles out there.
What will make you stand out on Instagram is really being you. Okay. So taking ownership of you as a person and the personality that you have, what makes you you? So I mean what that means is sort of thinking about your backstory, about your personality, about your history, your experiences also looking at your skillset you know, your career and what you’ve learned. And then I guess there’s also the fun stuff, which is kind of you know, your quirks or your style or your, tone of voice, the way that you speak or the way that you interact with other people. All those little bits work together to make up you and that you is something that can be marketed essentially on Instagram in a really special way. So yeah, to find your uniqueness, I think it really means diving into you and figuring out all the funny little bits that make up your story. And sharing that with the Instagram community.
One of the most important things for me is about having relevant well content as I said before. So your Instagram is kind of nothing really without great content. So the most important strategy is having a content pillar strategy. If you don’t know what that is, I would suggest maybe researching it online – content pillar strategy. So basically what it means is that you work out your content pillars, which are your areas of focus or the topics that relate to your brand or to your business that you want to be talking about, that you want to be sharing about. And you actually work out usually three to five pillars, right? So these are three to five areas or topics that you will speak about on Instagram and then within those pillars you share multiple pieces of content.
So videos, interviews photographs, stories, articles. But they all relate up to those different pillars. And the reason that is important is because it kind of creates a consistency of brand. It means that your, your personal brand on Instagram is focused on a number of topics that relate to you and your brand and your business. And then people become familiar, familiar with those topics and they start to really value the content that you create around them. It’s a really interesting strategic approach to delivering content on time and it’s regular and it’s interesting and engaging but also is consistent. And I think that’s actually the bottom line is being really consistent in your delivery of content and the stories that you share and making sure that their own brand for yourself and for your business as well.
