You need a sales pitch, not just to introduce your product but also to build a connection. When you use sales pitches, based on how much the customer knows about your product, how much of interaction they’ve had with your industry or your idea before, what stage of purchasing they are at. Based on all of these, you will use a sales pitch on the situation, and based on all of this your pitch will also be modified. It cannot be a standard pitch to be used every day. And this is where psychology and cognitive biases start coming into play. They play a very, very important role in sales and pitching and therefore sales pitch. You’ve got to understand where the other person is coming from, what’s going on in the mind of the other person, and all of this will draft your sales pitch to alleviate their doubts, their fears, to build a connection, to build trust and sales pitch can be extremely crucial in building trust, even if they are complete strangers. With a good solid sales pitch they can turn into repeat customers.

Stop thinking of a sales pitch as a sales tool at all, that always helps people. Think of yourself as helping people and that will help you make your sales pitch in such a way that you are entirely thinking win-win. Of course, you want to make profit and I am with you, but you also want to help the customer feel good about buying it and to come back to you again and again. So that’s why you need a sales pitch. Also please understand and always, always remember that we think that a lot of the features and benefits of our product or service are self-explanatory, but they are not. Trust me, people do not stop and think and analyze for someone else’s product even when they are buyers, they will not. You have to do the job for them. You have to make them realize what’s the benefit. So, nothing is self-explanatory in sales. Another thing to remember, people buy on emotions not on logic. So your pitch has to build that connection. If people purchased on logic then there would be no reason for sales and marketing at all, because people would see a product and they would immediately analyze the benefits and they would immediately buy. The whole reason why businesses run on the power of sales and marketing is because purchasing happens on emotion, and people do not automatically see the benefits. That’s why you should use a sales pitch.

There is no “one” sales pitch, there are many different kinds of sales pitches. The first thing that they are dependent on is your industry, what industry you’re working in? What’s the nature of your customers? Like, are they B2B, B2C? Are they mostly males? Are they young women? Are they children? Depends on that. So you need different kinds of sales pitches based on the buyer’s journey, so as many steps they are, I would recommend you to have as many pitches, because at every stage the customer needs some kind of holding, they need some assurance and that primarily the first level of interaction is through your pitch.
