As an entrepreneur most of the time we are very hard bosses to ourselves. I mean, I was especially in the beginning, so I didn’t take enough breaks, and this means, I think after an hour we should stand up from our computer and take a deep breath. Because sometimes we even forget to drink. maybe you know these situations. I mean, breaks are very important to refill your energy or batteries, and it’s also good for creativity.
I mean, if I’m not taking breaks, I feel very exhausted and uninspired after a while, I mean, maybe it’s working for some days, but then I feel tired and I also feel overstimulated after a while and I cannot be very creative and also not supportive for my clients. And it’s very important that I’m in my energy and that I’m also connected to myself when I am working with them.
So, it’s very important to walk my talk, as I say.
So I really try to be a good role model. Also important to say that maybe you remember the situations of plane that they say, take care of yourself first.
So your body is your temple. So, eat good, eat very healthy, take your breaks and really have a separation between work and let’s say, your private life.
If I’m taking breaks that my brakes are offline so that it’s not screen time, and that I’m not talking all the time in my breaks, because as you can imagine, as a coach, one of the most important things is my voice is speaking with the clients and asking questions. And therefore it’s very important that I take time off of everything that I move around, that I go for a walk.
I really try to meditate also, in some of my breaks to really come back to myself and to be conscious about my own feeling and that I’m not mixing my private feelings with my clients.
Every once in a while I’m taking a weekend really completely off of everything. And then, for example, I go in a small tiny house, to really spend some time on my own and just hanging out and getting some new inspiration for myself.
Workation, It’s just what it sounds like, actually. It’s a blend of work and vacation. And I can say that I had my first workation in Portugal last year, I was there for twelve days and I would spend like five hours each day with work online coaching and creating content, and the other time I was exploring like the region, enjoying the ocean, hiking and drinking coffee, and for me, it’s a perfect mix actually. I felt more creative and it helped me to focus on projects as well, which apply like special focus and an open mind.
And for me,being close to the ocean means it’s really a high energy booster and I can also recommend if you don’t like to be on your own all the time in a workation, you could also ask some other, let’s say freelance or entrepreneurial friends to go together and maybe rent an Airbnb house or so, and spend time together there and also use the free time, for example for brainstorming.
It’s a very good thing to get a new perspective and new ideas also for your business.
Techniques to boost your energy after a long workday
After a workday, it’s normal to feel exhausted! As an entrepreneur working hard for your business, you can often feel like you hardly have any ounce of energy left to do anything at the end of the day. This can be difficult especially if you still have to worry about dinner or if you’re a mompreneur who has a family to take care of.
Well, worry not! Below we have prepared techniques that can help you boost your energy after a long day of work.
- Turn off your brain and get moving. When you’re exhausted, exercising seems like the last thing in mind to do. But it’s actually very effective in getting your energy back and keeping you pumped to keep going! You’ll also feel better and sleep better.
- Take a short nap. If you’re sleep deprived, a short nap can significantly improve your energy but don’t overdo it! 30 minutes or less is the optimal time for a nap.
- Practice forest bathing. Take a walk in the park and be amidst nature. Be one with the surroundings – breathe it in, marvel, smell, taste, and touch – open all your senses to the natural world. This will bring about a source of peace to you and improve your energy levels.
- Meditate. This will allow you to reset your energy levels by turning your brain off and taking a pause on screen time. A good meditation technique is to take deep breaths in and out for 5 minutes. And simply, think about nothing except focusing on your breathing.
- Have a protein-filled, energy-boosting snack such as almonds, dark chocolate, or a hard-boiled egg. These are packed with the right nutrients to boost your energy. Avoid coffee at this point because it will likely lead to a caffeine crash.
