Since I’ve started working as a life coach, I really changed a lot of things in my life, especially who I’m surrounded by, and I recognize more and more that my family and friends are very important and that I should spend as much time as I can with them because they really bring like this work life balance into my life. And I just started with my digital nomad life, so it’s changed again. Right now I’m in Bali, so this is a little bit different I have to meet them via Skype or WhatsApp, for example. So I really try to make space for this and schedule like appointments with them. For me, it’s very important because feeling strongly connected with my friends and family is one of my core values. So I really know that this refills my batteries, let’s say or my energy to spend time with them, and they also remind me if I’m working too much, for example, because even as a life coach, I also needs this kind of feedback from others. And also very important for me to meet friends and we are doing for example, yoga together. So it’s like a mixture of having a nice chat with them, meeting them, and also doing sports.
On the one hand gives me the possibility to work from everywhere. Like right now I’m sitting Bali, in Ubud. As long as I have Internet, I’m fine. Which is actually sometimes really complicated because last week, I was on an island and the Wi-Fi wasn’t working at all. So you really need patience for this. But I think it’s really nice because, I can work from wherever I am. And also my clients have the chance to be wherever they want to be, so if they want to be on holiday or for example, if they have kids, it’s also possible to meet me, which is great, and they feel comfortable in their own place, which is also good. But then on the other hand, it’s quite hard sometimes to find the right balance between offline time and screen time, let’s say, because almost all of my work is online now, like writing emails, organizing appointments, of course, creating content sometimes on my mobile phone, on the other side, on my — blogs and articles and so on. So, I think it has two sides and it needs really to some time to figure out which is the right balance for myself. This is probably very personal for everyone. If you’re working online, it’s important to maybe have different spaces where you work. Like I work a lot from home, so I think it’s very important to have like a special room that it’s not like your living room, where you sleep because otherwise it’s always present. So it really helps me if it’s a special room, for example, when I met clients, sometimes in person, I met them in an extra like office where, which is only for coaching, for example. And then on the other hand, I think it’s very helpful if you organize lunch dates with friends, who are not even interested maybe in your business life. Maybe you can just talk about something else, maybe more gossip or whatever, which helps you to really stay away from work. And then for me, for example, it’s good if I do some brainstorming work, to go outside if it’s summer or spring time. It’s also nice to be maybe in your favorite coffee to sit there, have iced coffee and then take time for yourself. And on the other hand, for me, it’s really helpful to have a morning routine. It took me a while to figure out which is best for me because like, you can read many books at the board, morning routines. But I think it’s more important to find your own, it could be yoga could be meditation, maybe it’s just journaling, or it’s reading a book or whatever. You really could try different things and then you figure out what’s best for you and this really helps me to not feeling rushed when I start my day, I really take first time for myself and then everything else.
