Facebook for Personal Brand
Transcript
Facebook has been changing a lot in recent years and I think a lot of people and businesses have had trouble reaching customers because of the changes in the algorithm and in general, Facebook usage is dropping. So it doesn’t seem like the most viable platform for the future. I will say though that it does depend on your goals, right? It depends on what you are trying to achieve, who you are trying to reach. And if your customers are interrupting on Facebook, maybe they’re part of certain groups or communities maybe you can target down to those groups and communities, in which case I would say maybe it’s for you, but it really isn’t for everyone anymore. So if for you, it depends on your brand, on your business, on your goals and on where your community really is. That’s the first question to ask yourself before investing in Facebook.
Facebook groups has been the next evolution in Facebook marketing. It’s been the next level where people have actually started to kind of interact and build communities. So there are two ways. One is to either start a group of your own and create a topic or a community around a certain topic and really try and nurture and integrate that community. Or the other one is to join groups and obviously comment and share and try and add value to those groups. So those are the two ways you can do it. My only thing is to sort of be wary of it because people are, people are getting increasingly aware of people selling stuff through those groups. So it’s a delicate balance. You know, you can, you can share, you can interact.
And I do believe I have actually received clients that way. So it is possible. But people are starting to become aware of coaches, clients, you know, that brands and businesses using that space to sell their product or their services. It’s about the way you do it, approach it delicately, know that people in those groups don’t want to be sold to. And then you have to really be delivering some kind of value to be of interest to them. Facebook events are a great way to connect with people and to network. Definitely. And I think events can even be online or offline these days.
So you can attend an offline event and network with people or you can attend an online event or a Facebook live event and still connect with people in the community. So it is really great for interactions. And it boosts engagement and you get people talking. The one thing I think people fall short on is the follow up. So how do you follow through off to the event, right? How do you connect with those people and make sure that they’re drawn into your world and that they want to continue to interact with you after the event. So having a really strong follow up strategy and figuring out how to really engage those new potential clients is the most important thing for Facebook events.
