If you’re looking for a network, networking is very important for you to have business, to do business and to find some clients. And so, you first have to define: who is your client? Do you have a client´s avatar? Is it female? Is it a man? Which age? What are the preferences? What are the interests? So, you have first to define your clients´ avatar. Then, you have to define where your client lives, are your clients locals? Are they in your country or are they internationals?, which language do they speak? So, when you have defined your clients, then you have to think about where do you want to look for them? Is it online (on different channels) or is it offline? And that’s also where you should try to find a network, which suits you. And then second, I would say, try to find some networks by googling on the internet. And then first, subscribe to their newsletters. Try to find a personal contact with the people who are the founders of the network. Then, you will already see if this matches for you. Second, go to an event online or offline. And then, you will also meet the people who are members of this network. So, you find out if you feel good with them or not. That’s what you have to define where you want to go and what you are looking for. There’s so many good networks and all the networks, they have their own USP. And maybe you have to try four or five, six networks until, you know, which one is the one which fits you the most. Finally, if you are a professional and you are looking for a professional network the goal is to find clients (to be honest), but, there is a long way to it. It’s not a goal to go to a network event and to speak to everybody. Do your pitch. To do your two minutes pitch and then expect that they become your clients. Networking is net-working. So it’s hard work you have to invest first in your relationships. Networking is a question of relationships, so you have to be interested in the people who you are talking to, and you cannot expect the people you’re talking to, to become your direct clients. But maybe if you do it smoothly, if you do it elegantly and sympathetically, then you can expect that somebody will talk about your services and then recommend you. It’s kind of a relationship management. Which is really also very important is that you give recommendations to other people. That you also help them to grow and to move forward towards their goals.
Go to the internet and Google around and look (concerning to your goals) where there are some networks?, are they very local?, are they international?, which language do they have? And then, also ask people, ask your friends, ask your mentors: do you know a network which could fit me? Ask people who are already members of a certain network, if they are happy with their network, if they would recommend it and why they would recommend it.Then, second, go to the events: talk to the founders, talk to the responsible people, talk to the members, and soon you will feel if this is the right network for you.
