Content creation as a physical form, I feel like differs from but is similar in regards to who we are as people and the way that we engage in the world and follow up with friends and see them on a daily basis and can continue to build trust in those spaces. For a design studio and working with our clients, content creation becomes a really important tool for us to continue educating clients on the idea that, the more that you engage with the world, the more that you show up for your customers and remind them who you are in different formats. So we have Instagram, we have direct mail, we have follow-up phone calls, we have email campaigns, we have packaging systems, we have websites, you name it. Those are all great ways to keep engaging with clients and again, just remind them who you are and what you’re up to. Staying up to date with clients is a great way to continue building your brand and not be forgotten in the world.

Consistent content creation can vary from like micro channels to macro channels. We use Planoly, Planoly is a really easy way for clients and our studio really to keep on top of Instagram. That can be anything from setting up your Instagram age, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days in advance, and having them set to post every day, every other day or weekly. So I would consider that micro channel and the same goes for micro advertising campaigns that are publish a post on or schedule to post on Google, on Facebook or whatever.

Larger ones that we get more excited about that come to our studio, are direct mail pieces or larger packaging systems that people would receive in the mail as a thank you for the purchase or for engagements that require or invite customers to have a tactile experience, experiencing something and analog form can be something that people remember, but also something that they keep forever. That arrives and somehow makes its way onto their refrigerator and it’s so beautiful that they never ended up taking it down. That later becomes a conversation piece when they’re having a dinner party. We’re really interested in creating pieces like that for our clients because they get us really excited. From a design perspective as well as they are successful for clients and building a larger audience.

Making content creation a habit is a very difficult thing. I think many of us struggle with it and it requires showing up for yourself. Whatever way that’s good for you to do that, if it’s creating reminders in your calendar. If it’s using a platform like Planoly, if it’s having a post on your front door every time you leave the house, if it’s having a friend hold you accountable, I think there’s a variety of tools out there, but whatever works for you is the best answer.
