If you want to go to a new contact, your energy is the most important thing. So it’s worth going to a networking event and not being too tired, not having a headache, not being hungry or being thirsty. Watch that you feel good before going. If you don’t feel good, you better don’t go. Then, put up your energy, if you´re well prepared, you are looking forward to meet the people you have contacted before. And it’s a rule, most energy wins. So your style, your clothes, your accessories have to be the way that you like and that you feel comfortable. Also the way that the event asks for. You have to be dressed adequately so that you feel good. That’s also lifting up your energy. Watch that you sleep enough, that you drink good, you eat good, you do sports, you do relax and be there early enough. That’s also very important. If you are there early enough, then the people come towards you. You don’t need to go towards them. That’s also an advantage.
Networking is all about having the right energy. What you exude is what you get in return, so prepare well in projecting the right energy to potential new contacts! Below we have made a checklist for you to download in order to change your energy. Take a pen and get started.

Tip: Article on Networking for Introverts

Why Networking is Essential for Your Businesses this article in The Harvard Business Review. You may want to follow a “calibrating” approach while preparing for networking (balancing the pros and cons of attending a networking event). Is this type of event suited for you? For example, would you feel more comfortable during a dinner, rather than a networking party? In which part of the day do you feel more energized - are you more of a morning or an evening person? What would you be doing if you weren’t at this event - what is the benefit of engaging in this activity? Moreover, since networking requires more cognitive effort from introverts, remember to balance your schedule on the days when you plan to go to a networking event. Try to have some me-time before and after networking to gather your energy.
