Start Living Your Brand
Transcript
Actually, your personal brand is an extended version of yourself. So, I would say phase number one is to really go into self-discovery. That’s so important. Even before you go out there and create offers, just know what do you actually stand for, what’s your core message, what’s your core value, what can you provide, what can you help with? So, get really clear on that to then in stage two: provide offers and get professionally out there.
And once you’re clear on your core values and your why, and your true intentions, and how you can help people; it should be actually translated visually into the pictures, into everything you do, even in your email marketing, in the way you speak into the camera, in the way you show up in the world. Because it’s an extended version of yourself. And the biggest mistake a lot of people make, especially in the beginning, is that they don’t take enough time to ask themselves those self-discovery questions. And then they create a persona, meaning a mask from which they think people would like it and it might be successful because there’s a certain expectation out there or a certain standard out there that I –the personal brand, need to match in order to be successful.
And that’s not true. Personal brand will be successful the moment you dare or you allow yourself to be authentic because then people can identify with you. So, just ask yourself which type of stories you would actually want to share. You don’t have to share your whole life. Just make sure which type of stories really relate to your branding – to your offer. And then start sharing them. Repeat them as often as possible. And when you’re out there confronted even without a camera from a customer, from a random person, they would recognize you online as offline as the same version. Obviously, we are multifaceted beings. We are very complex persons. So, sometimes I will put on makeup and be the most beautiful woman in the world. And the other day I’m a couch potato. But my core values will always stay the same. So, the way I interact with people will stay the same. And the way I share myself will stay the same.
Obviously, your uniqueness. So, what’s unique about you? And the thing is, it doesn’t need to be something extra special. Don’t cry about “oh what’s so unique about me?” Everyone else I can see, but what about me? No, you’re an individual and that word in itself actually means you are unique. So, there must be something: the way you dress, the way you speak, your life experiences, your learnings, whatever it is there – there’s so many things about you that are unique. The thing is you live them and you don’t acknowledge them. So, ask the people around you actually what makes you special, or different, or what they actually like about you. And that might be a big part of your personal brand.
And it’s important for your popularity to actually live your brand. Because yes, people identify with you, and the moment you show up as differently, let’s say because you created a mask that you can’t live up to every day because it becomes exhausting at some point to play or to like have a show going. Well, they will disconnect and they won’t trust in you and your products because you showed too many different sides, and weren’t honest in the way you showed up. So, that’s why I really want to repeat – allow yourself to become authentic and also to evolve naturally your personal brand. As I said, it’s an extension: an extended version of yourself. You as a person, you will grow with your life experiences, with your business, and Obviously, your personal brand will as well. But don’t jump from one step to another. Make it an evolution so that your followers can actually follow.
