I would give you three key messages, three advices, three words. The first is being authentic. People want to know you, and not another person you would like to be. It’s about you. And second is always try to bring value to other people. Bring also respect. Respect them, try to observe them and try to be empathetic, and to know what they are looking for. And the last thing is networking is about giving, it’s about authenticity, about respect, about bringing value to the talk you have with another person, to the relationship. And it’s really not about expecting that you will get something from others. So, be positive, act, give, be authentic, go towards people, have courage, and also have courage to ask them for a favor, maybe, but first it’s a question of giving. And I wish you all the best on your way to success by networking and maybe our ways will cross once. And I would be very glad to get to know you.

As we have learned from this course, networking can feel challenging and intimidating. But if you don’t get out there, you may be missing out on opportunities to connect with people who can help in your business success!  When you build relationships, it brings you closer to finding potential customers, partners who can help you, or even financiers, who have the same passion as you for your business goal. Hence, in this lesson, we challenge you to get started on practicing your networking skills with your existing network. From here, the sky is the limit and you’ll be a networking pro in no time!

Networking Challenge

Rise to the challenge and get started practicing your skills within your network.

Here’s what you have to do! Ask your network three things you were looking for a long time. For example, you were looking to revamp your website and didn’t know who to contact. Well look no further and begin with asking your network about this:

  • Call the people who you think can help you based on their professional background and experience.
  • Post it on your social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn!
  • Write an email to someone you met briefly or someone you already know well that has the skills and experience that you are looking for.

Once you’ve done this challenge, you’ll be surprised at how this further builds on your relationships within your network. You may discover things about the people you know or have met that you didn’t know before. And they, in turn, can learn more about you and what you can offer. To go a step further, get yourself out there and meet more people! Starting inwards and developing your relationships there, then further going outwards to meet more contacts, this will ensure that you are slowly but surely building long-lasting connections within your network.
