Creating a website for your business, it’s fundamental, because it’s one of your most important assets. So just because I am talking to founders, think that every investor that we are going to meet in the future will ask you if you have a website, because a website is really part of your assets and also is your home for every customer.
So it’s your window, is your touch point, with the world. So it’s really, really important for these reasons, but also from the marketing point of view, of course, because it’s your own media. So when we talk about digital communication, digital marketing, you have to think that there are own media, gain media, paid media. Your website as your social media channels are your own media. So it’s very important that you nurture your own channel very well because these are channels that you can keep going and grow with the audience without spending money or without big budget. You can do this with great content. This is very important.
When I started working on my website, the first challenge was for me that I decided to outsource this work and I didn’t have so much money. I was thinking that I found a good compromise between my budget and what I could get from this freelancer.
But at the end, I got time for money job, that was really not precise for me. And also at this stage, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. So when you do a website is really difficult at the beginning to be sure that the website that you are creating is actually the website that you want to stay with for years. And at the beginning, everyone has an idea, and then it change it a bit and a little bit. So this for me was a mistake because after that freelancer finished the website, I understood that I didn’t want it anymore this way. This was my first challenge. Then when I started to work by myself on WordPress, on creating content or creating my website, map, structure, architecture. I understood many, many things. I learned many, many things. I did mistakes, that’s for sure.
But then of course for me it was a better solution to do it by myself. And when I started to work on the content, the other challenge for me for sure, was the translations, because anyway when you work on translating a website it’s not just translating a blog post or a page it’s translating their keywords, translating all the text, is translating the menu, translating everything. For me was the challenge, this. As also started to learn more about how to optimize my website for Google, because actually you can study a lot about this, but it’s really learning by doing and analyzing your data. This is the only way that you can have in order to improve. You can study a lot, but you can learn just by doing it. So, there are many challenges, but you get to it.
I did it and I wasn’t the developer. I studied digital marketing, digital communication. I did also when I was very young an HTML coding course, but nowadays actually you don’t need it in order to make a website. So keep calm and do it.
