What actually does a body-mind coach do? I mean, what is it? Okay, so, traditionally coaching and therapy and most of what we are engaged in is a mind, mind situation. Let’s say 10% of our cognition or our experience is mental. 90% of it, the rest of the 90% is a physical experience. Okay. Our nervous system, which means the neurobiology, the neural pathways that say I have a signal. Yeah. That’s coming from life and going up into my neurobiology up here. 90% of that is happening in my skin, in my senses, in my breathing, in my movements, in my energy level as we’ve talked about. This 90% we have been taught systematically to ignore. But you have been taught to sit still since you were five. Why? Because why was school created? Yes, to teach us. No. Fundamentally, schools were created to make you future factory workers, to not mind, not moving, barely breathing, sitting for eight hours a day, day in and day out. Now, what does it do? It creates boredom, distraction, lack of focus, frustration. Why? Because our bodies don’t like it. But if you train it enough, perfect, you’re going to go out and become that worker. Entrepreneurs are saying, hmm, I don’t like that. I want to do something else.
But what does a body-mind coach do? I teach you. Look, you have in your system, in your state, years of training, and I say this way purposely, years of training to not move, to not breathe, to not engage. 90% of your neurobiology, your energy level, your breath, your capacity to think it’s a whole body experience. Now what does the body-mind coach do? I teach you to get the 90% unified with the 10% so that you not only have the ability to think, to plan, to dream what our beautiful minds do, right? But you also have the ability to take action on it, to physically experience and take action on that experience. That’s what the body is doing. The body is saying, let me take that great idea and turn it into daily actions, through my energy, through my movement, through my whatever. Yeah. That makes that possible. Let’s say this way, body-mind coaching really teaches you to add embodiment into the picture, which allows you to make your great idea and your actions together. One last thing I’m going to say about that is a lot of us have a great idea, right? We say, wow, I want to do this and our experience of that idea is not matching, right? I believe this and I want this, but this is what I’m doing. Right? They’re not synced up. And that’s super frustrating and that’s what most of us are experiencing. My job as a body-mind coach is to get those things to match. My idea and what I’m expressing and what I’m experiencing. Match. Yeah. A primary example, I go into a room. Normally when I’m with my friends, I can just express myself. It’s easy, I’m fun, I’m right. And what happens? I go into a room with someone I look up to and suddenly I turn into a weirdo. I start giving my idea of who I want to be and my expressions are not matching. And what I teach you is you go into that room with who you want to be and you know how to do that in your physicality. You know how to relax. You know how to breathe, you know how to express and the way that you would normally express, and this is what body-mind coaching is all about.
