How can mindful eating make you happy and healthy?

Mindful eating is referred to as being actively aware of how and why you’re consuming something.

Researchers have even found that mindful eating can be a powerful way to achieve happiness and good health, combating both anxiety and depression. Mindful eating encourages you to slow down, focus and be more conscious about food. It becomes more than just the experience of eating food. It includes thinking about everything that went into that particular meal such as growing, shipping, storing, buying, and preparing it. You also learn to develop an appreciation and gratitude for your food.

As a result, this approach turns eating into an enjoyable experience. When you start paying attention to what and how you eat as well as where your food comes from, you’ll start having positive feelings about what you eat and be more satisfied with your meals. This leads you to have a better attitude and relationship with eating which is important for your overall well-being. Furthermore, this newfound presence around food and the positivity that comes with being conscious about it will also benefit in turning other areas of your life into positive aspects.

How do you build healthy eating habits in your work life?

Below we have compiled 7 techniques that you can practice.
Eat breakfast every day. It’s so easy to skip this meal but a healthy breakfast helps provides those first critical nutrients that your body needs each day for energy, especially as an entrepreneur. It helps kickstart your metabolism, avoid overeating throughout the day, and manage stress.
This allows you to not binge eat and spread your meals throughout the day.
Reading labels, carefully measuring servings, and eating on smaller plates are all smart strategies to get you started.
If you want to develop the habit of eating more mindfully, eating slowly and in silence regularly can help.
You can do this by tapping into your behavior and feelings around food. Eat only when you are hungry, don’t eat just because you’re bored. But also don’t wait until you feel starving, which will likely lead to overeating.
It can be as simple as taking a walk outside, a quick jog, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator among many other techniques.
This is so important! Water is one of the essential nutrients required by the body, thus, always make sure you’re well-hydrated as this impacts your mood and weight management. A good practice as an entrepreneur is to drink water with every meal and keep a bottle handy on your desk or the go.
To help you reach your goals in mindful eating we developed this worksheet. Use it to track your daily balanced meals and also the amount of water your drink. In this worksheet, you can write down what you eat, how you felt, and how many glasses of water your drank.
