The most important step for the female entrepreneur in order to honor her own authentic natural flow and menstrual cycle is actually to develop an awareness of the menstrual cycle, meaning to know exactly in which phase of the menstrual cycle she’s in. And by knowing this, she will be able to optimize and use completely the superpowers of each of different phases, because each of the different menstrual phase has its own superpowers and challenges. I always give example with menstrual phase, which probably is the most problematic phase for most women and most women do experience a lot of challenges. I recommend, for example, women to not expect high peak energy or to achieve big goals at that time because the very same hormones that are actually helping us to have peak experiences are their lowest points. So the same way, as I explained before, that women are very much mirroring the natural cycles. These changes can be used for our own benefit while we are managing our plans. We schedule our activities and we can really plan according to the super power of that respective phase we’re in. But as I said, the first step is definitely to create an awareness of our menstrual cycle and knowing this rise and peak can give us a lot of freedom and release of guilt and shame in terms of when we are productive and when we are not and to accept our own bodies and to flow with the energy of our bodies so we can actually achieve our results and we can without the burnout. So when it comes to the work life balance, particularly in the female experience, I would like to point to a word that is very trendy and that word is sustainability. Sustainability literally means an ability to sustain a project for a long period of time without exhausting resources and being able to renew and rejuvenate during this process. So when it comes to the big master of sustainability, this would be nature. We see nature as a complete master of rejuvenation and renewal. Being able to provide resources or constantly year by year and still without exhausting its own resources. So in that sense, this blueprint of sustainability is very much embedded also in the menstrual cycle of a woman where if she’s conscious and following these steps very much connected with the natural cycles, she will be able to sustain her own work-life balance intact, knowing when she can push and she can really use our energy at its peak and when she can withdraw and rejuvenate and rest, in that sense, she will always be able to move forward with her life in a very successful way. And yet not feeling burnout, which is so much prevalent in our society due to the high expectations of constant productivity, which is not a natural way of living, not in nature and not in the female body. So that is definitely helping a woman to have this awareness of the natural cycles in her menstrual cycle, to keep the sustainability of her energy and thoughts to create a work life balance.

4 Phases of Menstrual Cycle

Did you know that your menstrual is made up of four distinct phases encompassing Menstrual, Follicular, Ovulatory, and Luteal Phases? During these phases, we, women, experience various changes to our bodies and mind. This additional resource tells you the superpowers you have during each phase:

Phase 1, Menstruation: This is your period phase, which lasts for around 2-7 days. Because you have low estrogen and progesterone levels, this is a period of calm and peace. This is exactly why it’s the perfect time for reflection and it’s your superpower during this phase! Take the time to look inward, write down your thoughts, and set intentions and goals.

Phase 2, Follicular: This comes after your period and lasts for 5-10 days when your estrogen and energy increase. Your superpower is to act! Work on the things you wrote down in phase 1, brainstorm, plan, and get creative!

Phase 3, Ovulation: This is the peak of your cycle when your testosterone and estrogen are at their highest for 3-4 days! This is when you feel most good about yourself, confident, and social! Your superpower is your energy during this phase – it’s a great time to move, public speak, make a pitch, set meetings, and network!

Phase 4, Luteal: This is the last 2 weeks of your cycle where progesterone is still high but slowly drops. You will have less energy so it’s time to slow down. Your superpower is creativity and completing those tasks you set out to do! Use this time to work and get things done for the month.

We prepared a worksheet for you to fill out based on how you felt during each phase of your menstrual cycle and thereafter, identify what you think you were good at during each stage. Take a pen, download the file, and get writing.
