Finelles is a community for women to understand better their personal finances and investing and why I say community, because what we do, next to the financial piece where we have a blog, a newsletter and tools in order to inform yourself, we also run webinars, trainings and events to get women actually together and talk about the subject. So to make it a tool where they can exchange on the subject. Sometimes we see that they do not feel comfortable to talk about money with their friends. And this is actually a place where they now have the opportunity to do so.
And what do we offer? I mentioned already we have a website in English and German, and we cover all sorts of topics on personal finance, on investing and also on the psychology of money with some articles. We have a really cool six day money challenge, which kind of like touches on all the subjects and should start to get you going. And then we also have, and that’s something we’re currently working on, is the eight week money course, which is a webinar course to really go step by step through the entire process of taking the inventory, to identifying the gap, to make a plan, and then implement obviously this plan and help you to identify how you can track your plan to stay on track for your short, mid and long term goals.
And the other thing I do sometimes – where people have very specific topics or where they want to learn more than what we cover in the courses or where people feel they need this personal interaction – I also do financial coaching to go in a one-on-one sessions through the topics and really create a very specific plan for the respective person.
Money mindset is the first component for example of our eight week money course, as well as the personal coaching. That’s usually something I try to work on really at the beginning: people, they jump right to the end and they want to start investing but if they don’t understand the mechanism of it all, they’re not paying into their plans. So they need to understand why they’re doing this. And then for our free resources we do have on the blog also some articles on it, in the newsletter, I talk a lot about these topics too next to like the more factual things, how for example a bonds or share might work.
The one thing we’ve learned also talking to women and doing all these courses is to start, right. Because they come to our courses, they learn a lot of subjects, but then this is all worth nothing until you start actually implementing things. So here, my tip is take the courage and start small. You don’t have to invest a couple of thousand, you can start with like €25 or a couple hundred francs or dollars and see how it goes. So you then learn in the process. I think this is definitely one thing, take action.
Second one is really talk about it with your friends and you will be surprised how many other women are thinking about the subject and are actually super happy to talk with you about it. So like money talk, right, this is my second tip
And the third one is make a plan. And this is really something I wouldn’t want to skip because we always try to think about the tactical things we can do: should I save money on a latte or should I do this? Or should I do that? I think the basis is really having a plan. And for me personally, it’s not about these tactical things. They are little things how to tweak it. It’s about the big buckets to work on.
