Step 1: Start With Your Why & Your Purpose

Every successful brand has a purpose and a “why?” This purpose relates to who you are. So be authentic and radiate your authenticity through your brand! As soon as you are clear about yourself, you can derive your companies mission, vision & values in return.

Relates to who you are – be clear about yourself and radiate your authenticity through your brand!
Below are some questions to ponder. Take the answers you have thought of for these questions to build on the foundation of your branding. Incorporate it into your visuals, message, slogan, and ads! Remember people care about your why so make it authentic to yourself and to what you’re offering!
Here are the main questions you can ask yourself to better define your brand purpose:
- What makes you unique?
- What do you think your purpose in life is?
- What problems do you want to solve and what solutions have you thought to help resolve them?
- Why would this be important for others?

An interesting model to help develop your “Why?” is from Leadership Expert, Simon Sinek. In his TED Talk Video, he talks about the Golden Circle Model which helps you to identify the purpose behind your life and business.
Here are the 3 main elements of this model:
- What – the products or services that you offer to your customers.
- How – the characteristics that differentiate you from your competitors.
- Why – the reason for your passion and what your purpose is.
