I think persistence is actually not just important for leaders. It’s important for everyone really and especially the ones who want to become leaders. But I think as a leader, your job is to keep the overview and the direction so your employees will easily, especially if it’s long term goals, they will easily lose track of what the bigger picture is. And I think as a leader, that’s where you have your responsibility and where you can really support the process that they have this long term view and that you help them also then sort out the obstacles.
When I moved to Denmark, I remember that moment where I stood there at the water front, and I looked over at the Mearsk headquarters, one of most prestigious companies in Denmark and also a global company. And I said at that moment I made the decision, I said, I want to work for them. And it’s quite, I would say tough like they have quite thorough recruitment processes, but I, I chased them for three years. I was making connections and, yeah, applying for jobs. And then actually it came in a very different form than I thought. So, my first assignment as a self-employed was with them. So finally, three years later, it worked out. And I guess the message is you not to control the process and to be open how it’s gonna go. And maybe it’s in a different form, maybe it’s even better, but really to sort of anchor into the vision and in the end goal.
